Fur & Focus started with my own impossibly camera-shy dog. After years of learning how to earn trust before earning a good shot, I turned it into a small photography studio built entirely around animals.
Every session moves at your pet's pace. Nervous rescues, wriggly puppies, and dignified old cats all get the same thing: patience, plenty of breaks, and a photographer who's just as happy to sit on the floor as stand behind a tripod.
The result is a set of portraits that actually look like them — not a generic studio pose, but the tilt of the head, the ears, the little expressions only you usually get to see.
A mix of studio and on-location portraits. Click any photo for a closer look.

Every pet is different, and that is exactly how a session should be. Here are some answers to the questions I hear most often.
That is completely okay. We take our time, let your pet set the pace, and use calm introductions, treats, and breaks so they can relax before I ask for any photographs.
Stillness is never a requirement. I work with movement, play, and natural moments, and I can often capture wonderful portraits while your pet is exploring or being silly.
Most pets stop noticing the camera once they feel comfortable. I keep things relaxed, avoid forcing eye contact, and use distance, patience, and a quiet shutter when needed.
Please tell me before the session so I can plan around your pet. We can choose a quiet location, keep plenty of space from triggers, and build in breaks so everyone feels safe.
Puppy sessions are short, flexible, and full of breaks. We will photograph the little details, playfulness, and personality without expecting grown-up concentration.
Older pets are very welcome. I keep the pace gentle, avoid unnecessary movement, and can work close to home or wherever they are most comfortable.
That is not a problem. Secure leads, long lines, harnesses, and thoughtful locations can all be used, and I can edit leads out of selected images where appropriate.
We can reschedule outdoor sessions without fuss, or move to an indoor option if one is available. Your pet's comfort and safety always come first.
Absolutely. Tell me how many pets you would like included when you enquire so we can allow enough time for individual portraits and photos together.
Yes. A few photographs with your pet can make the session especially meaningful, whether you want a natural cuddle or something more playful.
Of course. Family photographs can be planned into the session, with time for everyone to settle in and for your pet to have quieter moments too.
We follow their lead rather than waiting for a perfect pose. I use movement, games, treats, and short pauses to capture expressions that feel like them.
We slow everything down. Your pet can observe from a safe distance, and we only move closer when they are ready; some of the most beautiful photographs come from these quiet sessions.
We will make a plan around your dog's triggers, with a calm location, extra space, and clear communication throughout. You will never be expected to put your dog in a stressful situation for a photograph.
No. Dogs do not need to be off-lead at any point. We can create lovely photographs with a lead or long line, and safety is always more important than a particular pose.
Every package includes a pre-session chat about your pet, so I know what makes them comfortable before we start.
Tell me a bit about your pet — their name, personality, and where you'd like to shoot — and I'll get back to you with availability and pricing.
